Beach Volleyball comes to Wynnum

While the Wading Pool is drained over the winter break, beach volleyball is coming to Wynnum, with four beach volleyball courts permanently set up on the sand in the Wading Pool itself.

The Beach Volleyball season was officially launched last Friday morning, after an early morning delivery of extra sand during the week (see photos below).

The brainchild of Peter Hickey of Hickey Sports Marketing (HSM Group), the initiative has come together with the involvement of Natalie Cook (Beach Volleyball Olympic Gold Medallist) as Event Ambassador and Dial Before You Dig and Brisbane City Council as sponsors/partners.

There will be a six week program with four beach volleyball courts in the Wading Pool (officially called the ‘Wading Pool Arena’) and access will be free to local schools during the week and free to recreational visitors at the weekend.

Anyone can participate, no experience required, and games can be fun for the whole family, for all age groups male and female participants. Mixed teams can enjoy a social fun game and those wanting to can advance into full training and join at club level.

The organisers also offer a structured school visitation program by Nat Cook’s SurfVolley staff to encourage youth participation in the Wynnum and Brisbane East Region.

SurfVolley have put together a 6 week schools program from July 3rd to August 11.
