Election: We interview Greens Party candidate for Bonner

Originally from Canada, Dave Nelson visited Australia in 1998 and he and his wife loved it so much they made the permanent move in 2003. He comes from a technology background and currently works in the electricity power generation industry. He is the Greens candidate for Bonner.

WynnumCentral spoke to him recently about what he would like to see happen in the Wynnum central retail area.

“Clearly the central shopping area in Wynnum has seen better days. If I am elected I would very much like to hear the opinions of members of the local community as to what they would like to see. Personally I would like to improve public transport, and see if we can do something a little more exciting than the rather traditional environment we have in Wynnum at the moment – maybe a cinema is needed, maybe we could see if we can emulate Oxford Street in Bulimba?”

Mr Nelson says that when doorknocking the local area and talking to people at his stall at the Manly markets he’s getting very strong support from people who are tired of the old parties.

NOTE
We have approached all candidates for the Bonner electorate for interview about what they would like to see in Wynnum Central. So far we have only been able to interview Mr Nelson (and we have spoken briefly with Jeff Penny from the Family First party). We have not yet been able to speak with the other candidates.
