Increased police presence in Wynnum – plainclothes or uniformed… or in-between?

Have you noticed more police on the streets in Wynnum recently? Our guess is that this is part of Operation Lima Goodwill we referred to recently here.

In Wynnum the other morning we noticed a couple of guys in Edith Street, and then we saw the guns on their belts. At this point we thought ‘are these guys cops, plain clothes security guards, or maybe even just a couple of guys brazenly walking around with guns?’ Of course you’d have to assume they were police, but it makes you a little nervous when you don’t know for sure. We think an increased police presence would be more effective if it were uniformed police, if the idea is to deter criminal and anti-social behaviour. If these guys were plainclothes, shouldn’t their weapons be concealed as well?

What do you think? We’d like to know.
