Marcia Hines to headline 2022 Wynnum Fringe

with Dave Hughes and Akmal also on the bill

This year will be the third outing for the Wynnum Fringe and things are just getting bigger and better. This year Marcia Hines will top the bill with her show Velvet Rewired – a cabaret show combining a celebration of disco music with musical, burlesque and circus performers. Velvet Rewired premiered at the Adelaide Fringe in 2020 and was widely regarded as the best show there.

This year there will also be a bevy of comedians led by Dave Hughes, Akmal and Cal Wilson.

Much of the action this year will be spread around Wynnum with the three main venues the Raine & Horne Spiegeltent down on the waterfront, The Vault – a geodesic dome which previously put in an appearance at the Adelaide Fringe’s Garden of Unearthly Delights and the Bayside Music Hall aka the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre, which sports one of the best stages around and has already hosted Dragon, Russell Morris and Thirsty Merc.

The other big difference is that this year the Fringe will be held over a two and a half week period, from Wednesday 16th November until Sunday 4th December. At this stage twelve shows have already been announced and tickets are on sale.

We’ll keep you updated on further announcements!

Did you know?

A spiegeltent (Dutch for “mirror tent”, from spiegel+tent) is a large travelling tent, constructed from wood and canvas and decorated with mirrors and stained glass, intended as an entertainment venue. The original spiegeltents were constructed in the Flemish Region of Belgium in the late 19th century as mobile dance halls. They were transported around the country and assembled for town fairs in areas that did not have a proper dance hall. (Wikipedia)
