What’s happening in Wynnum Central

If you spend any time in Wynnum Central you can’t help but notice the boom in development. The Le Palais development is now home to The Coffee Club as well as Thinktank Architects on the first floor and residents will soon be moving in to the apartments above.

This is stark contrast to the Wynnum Shopping Centre aka the IGA centre where there has been no movement on the vacant shops despite many ‘coming soon’ type signs. This even made the front page of the Wynnum Herald on 28th September. WynnumCentral has approached the agents with a view to running the Wynnum Creative Spaces project in the building but so far to no avail.

In Edith Street a development proposal sign has appeared outside 63, 65 and 71 Edith Street (where WynnumCentral Members Wynnum Manly Loan Office and Subets hairdressing are located), showing plans for a 28 unit multiple use building with shops and offices.

In Bay Terrace a sign has appeared on the site of the old library complex giving some details on a proposed development of apartments, terrace homes and townhouses called Enclave (http://enclave-residences.com.au/).

Further down Bay Terrace the old Stepz Fitness site is fenced off we presume in readiness for development but no indication so far of what this will be.

More multistorey buildings are also planned on the outskirts of the Wynnum Central shopping precinct, with an application for an eight storey building in Berrima Street and a five storey building in Drayton Terrace submitted to Brisbane City Council.

In Edith Street, the bicycle shop Links Cycles has now closed, with a training gym called F45 which runs ‘functional group training’ due to open in the location.
