Break-in at Wynnum Manly Loan Office

Over the weekend the Wynnum Manly Loan Office in Edith Street was broken into. Although the break-in created a lot of mess it seems the culprits didn’t get away with anything very valuable. If you have any information on the break-in or saw anything suspicious in Edith Street or nearby on Saturday night or early Sunday morning, please contact the Police or Crimestoppers.

The Police are in the middle of a crackdown on crime in Wynnum – Operation Lima Goodwill, which according to this article in the Courier Mail has resulted in 14 arrests so far, although it is unclear from the report whether these were all in Wynnum central shopping area or in the Wynnum Police District (see our previous article on this potential confusion).

At WynnumCentral we don’t think that the Wynnum central shopping area has much more crime than other Brisbane suburbs, but we still believe that more could be done to enhance security – perhaps cameras or maybe just a smartening up of the central area. What do you think? Do you think Wynnum is a high crime area? Do you think more should be done? If so,what?
