Tell us about Wynnum

…we asked

Recently we commissioned a new writer to write a few words about Wynnum. In fact we asked them to ‘in about 150 words tell us about Wynnum’. Here’s what they wrote…

“Wynnum is a coastal suburb located in the eastern part of Brisbane, Australia. With a population of approximately 12,000 people, it is a vibrant and diverse community that offers a range of recreational activities, parks, and shopping areas.

One of the main attractions of Wynnum is its picturesque waterfront, which includes a man-made swimming pool and a wading pool that are popular with families. The Wynnum Jetty is also a popular spot for fishing and strolling, while the nearby Wynnum Golf Course attracts golf enthusiasts.

The suburb has a mix of residential and commercial areas, with a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants. The Wynnum Central shopping district features a number of specialty stores and supermarkets, while the nearby Wynnum Plaza is a larger shopping center that offers a wide range of retail options.

Wynnum also has a rich history, with a number of heritage-listed buildings and landmarks, including the Wynnum Town Hall and the Wynnum Memorial Park. The suburb is easily accessible by public transport, with regular bus and train services connecting it to the wider Brisbane area.”

What do you think? Should we give them a job? We thought this summary seemed to be pretty accurate (apart from maybe the US spelling), although it did go over the suggested word length by 29 words. Mind you it only took them about 30 seconds to write.

Have you already guessed who we got to write this? This was in fact written by ChatGPT, the new Artificial Intelligence tool developed by OpenAI.

What do you think? Are all writers out of a job now?

  1. I’d love if ChatGPT was correct and there really was a man made swimming pool here 🙂

  2. Great factual description of Wynnum. But nothing beats a personal touch and experience that brings colour to the article.

    1. Agree! The bot left out that the wading pool is heritage listed and that there is a great sense of community in Wynnum.
