At 3pm on Wednesday 18th September, the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Graham Quirk will officially launch Wynnum’s new look seaside colourband at the water tower on Preston Road in Manly.
The seaside colourband, devised by the Wynnum Redevelopment Taskforce committee of the Wynnum & Districts Chamber of Commerce, is a visual representation of Wynnum as ‘Brisbane’s Seaside’, with the colourband taking inspiration from the multi-coloured deckchairs and beach huts of old.
Wynnum’s seaside colourband not only appears in large format on one side of the newly repainted water tower on Preston Road, but can also be seen on the 52 large format banners on lamp posts in and around Wynnum, and on bumper stickers distributed for free by the Wynnum Redevelopment Taskforce. The bumper stickers have started to appear on cars in the local area, and in shop windows in Wynnum as the local business community shows support for the redevelopment initiative.
“We’re delighted that the Lord Mayor has been able to accept our invitation to officially launch our Wynnum brand update.” said Wynnum Redevelopment Taskforce chairman Michael Jullyan. “Wynnum has a lot going for it and was recently listed in the Top 100 property investment hotspots in Australia by a leading property investment magazine. With the official launch of our seaside colourband and with a range of events and initiatives planned to breathe some life into the centre of our beautiful suburb, we’re confident that Wynnum residents and visitors from further afield will really enjoy the new vibe we are creating here.”
On the day the Lord Mayor will also officially launch another event due to take place next year in Wynnum – the Wynnum Illuminations Festival. Brisbane City Council are supporting the Wynnum Illuminations Festival.
All are welcome to attend the launch at the water tower, although there are limits to the number of people that can be accommodated by the venue. If you would like to come please RSVP to the Wynnum & Districts Chamber of Commerce on 07 3893 2628.
