Moves in the street

The last ‘Moves in the Street’ update was over 6 months ago …and 6 months is a long time in Wynnum Central! Some of the major changes we’ve kept you updated on – the new cinema, Matilda the Art of Gelato moving on to Bay Terrace etc. Here are some of the others you might have missed…

Bay Terrace

• Fleur by Ellie is a new flower shop next door to Cedar & Pine wine bar. Ellie offers beautiful flower arrangements and other gifts, including hampers
• Hairdressers South87 across the road have closed their doors
• Wynnum solicitors Piccardi Legal and Ian Fry have joined forces to form Piccardi Fry, with Piccardi Legal moving from their old office in Florence Street to Ian Fry’s office in Bay Terrace
• Little Toy Tribe, which used to be in Charlotte Street, moved in February into the old Helloworld Wynnum (which moved down the street). It stocks quality toys and resources for young children
• In case you missed, Wynnum Central’s second bar opened – The Fat Duck – opened in November last year as a tapas bar and restaurant, with the Mr Hibachi restaurant upstairs, offering ‘modern Australian cuisine with an Asian influence’
• A new doctors surgery called Lighthouse General Practice has opened on the corner of Pine Street and Bay Terrace
• Brisbane Physio Clinic has opened next door to Helloworld Wynnum in the Enclave building offering a full physiotherapy service and with an in-house podiatrist

Edith Street

• Pilates studio Studio Pulse opened back in Aug/Sep last year where the sewing machine centre used to be. They offer Reformer Pilates and yoga classes and are a new addition to the vast array of different fitness choices you now have in Wynnum
• New barbers shop The Gentleman’s Lounge opened back in December last year
• Matilda’s the Art of Gelato’s old spot in Edith Street has been leased and has the wraps on it – literally. We understand it’s going to be an exciting new and different addition to the retail mix in Edith Street. More details soon
• Greengrocers – this has also just been leased, but we don’t know what’s going in there yet. We’ll keep you posted
• Distressed Homewares (see our previous article) changed hands three month ago – the new owner is Kerri (pictured below), who will serve you a takeaway coffee/tea/chai in these delightful little fully recyclable ‘butterfly’ cups (in shot below)
• A new yoga studio is moving in to the spot just beside Wynnum Fine Jewellers (the set back entrance)
• The hearing clinic in Edith Street has changed its name to Amplifon

Florence Street

• The Indian Spicy Villa Indian restaurant and takeaway (pictured below) has moved out of Florence Place (which now only has The Biltong & Jerky Hut and the laundrette) to its new home all of 75m away on the corner of Tingal Road and Edith Street
• 100 Florence Street (opposite Woolies and the Wynnum Community Centre), which was previously slated to become a highrise with a rooftop terrace and bar, has now been refurbished and is available to lease (with Wynnum Business member Lamonds Estate Agents and Ray White Commercial)
