Fete de la Musique in Wynnum

Fete de la Musique started in France over thirty years ago as a day, in the Northern Hemisphere the longest day of the year (21st June), when buskers could perform in the street without having to register or pay any licence fee. Fast forward to today and it has become a global phenomenon, an international day of music. I first came across Fete de la Musique when I played in a band when I was studying in France – it’s only taken several decades to find its way down under!

Now it is sponsored by Brisbane City Council, and WynnumCentral has just registered Edith Street as a venue.

It just so happens that Saturday 21st June is also the date of the inaugural Wynnum Illuminations Festival, so there will be a lot going on in Wynnum that day! If you are a musician, or know a musician who would like to play, please get in touch with us on 07 3040 1972.
