Wynnum Illuminations Festival

On Saturday 21st June, Wynnum will host its first Illuminations Festival.

As the official website describes, “Colourful lanterns, projections and illumination displays [will] light up the foreshore adjacent to the Wynnum Wading Pool and Jetty. The area comes to life with fire twirlers, a Punch and Judy Show, street entertainers, small amusement rides and music. On Pandanus Beach, artists are demonstrating sandcastle creations.  A market is open, featuring local food and artefacts.”

A street lantern parade is planned at dusk with children from local schools walking together from the former Wynnum Central School site down from central Wynnum to the Wading Pool, placing lanterns around and in the pool. Later in the evening, an Aboriginal fire ceremony conducted by the local Winnam Tribe will be held on Pandanus Beach.

Lots more is planned… more details as soon as we have them.

For more information, visit the Illuminations Festival website.

By the way, if you are a local business and would be keen to be involved in the festival as a sponsor, visit the festival website.

  1. what a lovely event you’re planning! already on the calendar and telling family and friends .. reminiscent of the school lantern parades in the Spring Carnivals which have ceased. Good to see that you are using the wading pool for the lanterns and not releasing any debris into the already overburdened Bay.. brilliant
