Postponed NAIDOC celebrations in Wynnum yesterday

NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Day in Wynnum in July was rained out, so festivities got underway at Bandstand Park in Wynnum yesterday. There were plenty of activities for the kids, including rides and painting your own boomerang, plus a great show was put on by an Aboriginal dance troupe as well as some great live music. Your WynnumCentral editor hung around for a little while and was able to keep the kids amused – throwing boomerangs is always fun.

There were also quite a few Aboriginal artists and art and crafts stalls – with a bit of luck we might see some of them at the next WynnumCentral Twilight Markets…

It was a great sunny day for the event, with the heavens opening just as everything finished off at 3pm.
