Last Saturday it was Midwinter Day …or maybe it should have been today!

Who knows…

Last Saturday (21st June) was Midwinter Day here in Australia – and in theory it should be getting warmer from here on in, but don’t bank on it!

In the Northern Hemisphere it was the Summer Solstice, although technically Midsummer’s Day there is today, 24th June. There’s probably a reason why it’s different there, but we don’t know it.

In France – and a few other countries – 21st June was also the global festival Fete de la Musique, where anybody can go out on the streets and play music, no permissions required.

If you’ve been around in Wynnum for a while you may remember The Illuminations Festival, which ran in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

And you may also remember that – in 2014 and 2015 – Fete de la Musique was also held in Wynnum. In 2014 it was on the same day as the Illuminations Festival (see below). Check out our archive articles here:

Should we bring Fete de la Musique back to Wynnum next year???!? How about The Illuminations Festival??
