Music day brings Wynnum to life on a Sunday

Wynnum was the only place in Queensland where Fete de la Musique was celebrated. With 14+ musicians, performers and bands playing from 9am until 1pm, there was something for everyone. Although it’s fair to say the crowds were modest (there were noticeably more people than on a normal Sunday morning), the weather was good, the music was great and a few passersby asked “Does this happen every Sunday?”

The Alliance Francaise Brisbane came along, as did a few specialist French suppliers of delicious French bread and patisserie and French gourmet food.

Maybe now we have a few cafes and other shops that are open on a Sunday morning, we should have something artistic and/or musical happening regularly on Sunday mornings in Wynnum. What do you think?

Here are a few more photos from Fete de la Musique in Wynnum on Sunday 21st June 2015…

  1. My family and I enjoyed the Fete de la Musique, some great artists and so good to see life in Wynnum Central on a Sunday. But very disappointing to see such low crowds. Was it not well advertised? It couldn’t have been the weather as it was a beautiful day. Yes more events like this would be great but something needs to be done to improve the publicity.

  2. I agree, where are these events publicised. We live in Alexandra Hills and do not hear of anything happening in Wynnum area.

Most of our promotion is in the local area eg editorial coverage in the Wynnum Herald, road signs around the local area and some social media promotion. Our marketing runs on the smell of an oily rag!
