Public rally planned to support Mens Shed

Daniel Cheverton of the Wynnum Manly Community Centre and David Westlake of the Wynnum Mens Shed are urging Wynnum residents to show their support for Wynnum Mens Shed, who face eviction from their current home in the old Wynnum Central School, by coming along to a rally at the old school site in Florence Street at 10am this coming Saturday 28th June.

Here’s some more information from Daniel and David about the rally…

Brisbane City Council wants to throw the Men’s Shed out of the old Wynnum Central School without offering a viable alternative. The Men’s Shed has changed the lives of its 127 members.

Council also wants to divide up the old school for development and only keep a 15 metre wide walkway, not the 40 metre wide park required by their Neighbourhood Plan. With more units in Wynnum Central, we need a decent park.

Come and join the rally to save the Men’s Shed and our parkland.
