Seafood market a step closer

Plans for a monthly open air fresh seafood market are a step closer after a meeting with Brisbane City Council officials cleared the way for an application to go in for a twilight market from 5pm-10pm in Bay Terrace on a Saturday evening.

The council had previously opposed plans for a street market as this would have disrupted a number of bus services that use Bay Terrace. However the last Saturday bus service using Bay Terrace is at 4.30pm, so a twilight market is an option.

WynnumCentral plans to invite up to 50 stalls to attend, with a focus on fresh seafood, for a regular monthly market which will be held on either the second or fourth Saturday of every month.

  1. Just wondering if it would also sell cooked seafood dishes so then people could dine at it as well especially at that time of the day
